Vajazzle Frequently Asked Questions

I got one of your DIY vajazzling kits. How do I use it?
  •  Thoroughly cleanse the skin and allow it to dry.
  • Put tattoo sheet on a flat surface, crystal side up. Rub the transparent tape, gentrly pressing down on the crystals.
  • Carefully separate the white sheet from the clear tape, making sure all of the stones stick tot he clear tape. If some stones adhere to the white sheet, simply repress the sheets together.
  •  Press the clear tape with crystals to the skin. Press for 10 seconds to allow adhesive to adhere to the skin.
  • Gently peelthe tape off of the skin.
  • After removing the clear tape, press the crystals to insure that they adhere.
  • Crystals can be easily removed from the skin.
Can vajazzling crystals be re-used?
Quality vajazzling crystals can and should be re-used. This depends in part on the backing of the crystal. If it is a Swarovski flatback, then the crystal can be used over and over again with skin safe adhesive. For optimum shine, polish the crystals with a soft lint free cloth before reusing them. Treat them like you would any other quality stones by making sure not to get them scratched up. And remember to store them properly.

What if I want to vajazzle elsewhere?
If you're not comfortable starting off with a full vajazzle treatment, you can always use another area around your waist. The stones can sit above the waistline. That way you can wear pants and they're still visible.

How to make vajazzling crystals last?
There are 2 parts to this. The first deals with how the crystals are applied. The 2nd deals with how they're treated after.

Before applying the crystals, always make sure the skin is smooth, freshly shaved or waxed, dry and clean. This helps the adhesive stay on best regardless of which skin-safe adhesive is being used.

How you wear your vajazzle affects how long the vajazzling lasts. One important tip is to wear looser clothing around the area. If it's summer, then wear a bikini that sits low. Remember that reputable professional vajazzlers will guarantee the crystals to last 5 days.

How long do the vajazzling crystals stay on?
A quality salon or spa will guarantee the vajazzling crystals to stay on for 5 days. That is the current standard amongst salons and spas that Vajazzleville has contacted around the country. This includes places in New York, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and others.

Can I vajazzle over my tattoos?
Tattooed skin should be cared for and treated just as regular skin in this regard. Depending on the type of adhesive used, it will hold as well over a tattoo as over un-tattooed skin. Vajazzling around tattooes can be a creative way to add sparkle to an already existing design on your body. It's not just limited to vajazzling. Glue Swarovski crystals in and around any of your tattoos.

What happens when the hair grows back?
A typical vajazzle application lasts a few days. In this time, depending on how you trimmed, your skin could still be smooth. Of course, every woman's different. By the time your pubic hair grows back, the vajazzling crystals will have fallen off on their own.

Ideally you should wax instead of shave. A wax keeps the skin smoother for a longer period of time. Just be sure to take care of your skin before applying the crystals. If you're experiencing excessive redness then wait a while before applying.

Where exactly do the vajazzling crystals go?
When people first here about vajazzling they picture Swarovski crystals glued to a woman's labia. That's not the case at all. In fact, they're glued to the vulva; to the freshly shaven or waxed area just over the clitoris.

Waxing Frequently Asked Questions

Why wax in the first place?
Waxing is a great way to temporarily remove unwanted hair. It is more effective than shaving because it removes hair from the roots, not just from the skin’s surface. If waxed regularly over time, hair in waxed areas regrows lighter and sparser.  For facial waxing, removal of unwanted facial hair allows for a more youthful look and application of makeup goes on smoother and better.  Brow shaping can really open up the eyes and a great shape can dramatically change your appearance.

What areas of the body can be waxed?
Waxing can be done on almost any part of the body. A small area can be patch tested first for sensitivity.  Most popular waxed areas for women are brazilian or bikini, legs, underarms and eyebrows.  For men: chest and back.  The exceptions for waxing are the beards and inside the ears.

How long will the results last?
After a client’s first waxing, the results can last 3 - 6 weeks depending on the individual’s hair re-growth.  In most cases, hair growth is minimal during the first week or two and noticeably increases in the third and fourth week. With regular waxing, the length of time between treatments will increase

Will the hair grow back thicker?
No.  Regular and continued waxing usually results in sparser and finer hair re-growth.

Are there any health precautions to keep in mind?

VERY IMPORTANT:
  • Accutane Patients: AVOID all waxing while on Accutane and for a minimum of 6-12 months after coming off the medication or consult your dermatologist about when to proceed.
  • Some physicians do not recommend waxing for persons suffering from diabetes or who have varicose veins or poor circulation as they are more susceptible to infection
  • Facial waxing is not recommended for clients currently using Retin A, Renova, Differin or other types of skin thinning acne medications. Please read the label carefully and consult your dermatologist if you are taking any medication or using any topical cream that contains these medications or stop for 7 days prior to waxing.
  • Individuals do react differently to these medications and sometimes waxing can be done if proper patch testing is completed.
  • Please be completely honest with your Skin Care Therapist about all allergies and medications you are taking - it is for your protection.
  • Women may experience extra sensitivity up to a week prior to the beginning of their menstrual cycle
  • What are the possible side effects of waxing and how can they be minimized?
  • Although we can not predict or guarantee who may react, most clients do not experience reactions beyond redness and minor irritation. Hair may break at the root during waxing, causing some hairs to grow out faster. Please follow these guidelines to minimize irritation and possible breakouts.

Treat skin gently afterwards - no sun exposure, abrasives or exfoliation for 24-48 hrs. on the area.
Wear sun screen; recently waxed areas are prone to hyperpigmentation (permanent darkening of the skin)
if exposed to the sun.

  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools and other heated sources for at least 48 hours.
  • Do not use exfoliating products (AHAs, scrubs, etc) and loofas until at least 24 hours after waxing the area.
  • Regular exfoliation may be helpful for those prone to ingrown hairs on the body
  • Routine waxing helps the skin get accustomed to the procedure and may minimize irritation.
  • Sunburned, irritated or thin skin areas should not be waxed.
What type of wax products are used?
Only the best and most gentle waxes are used for all our waxing procedures.

What is the difference between a Bikini Wax and a Brazilian Wax?
A standard bikini wax is more conservative and generally involves removing hair to just inside the panty or swimsuit line. Hair removal is limited to the top and sides of the bikini line

The Brazilian technique is getting more and more popular.  Brazilian waxing refers to hair removal from the entire pubic region from front to back. An option for apprehensive first-timers is to start with a bikini wax and gradually work your way to a brazilian on future visits

Brazilian Waxing FAQ

What is Brazilian waxing?
This is a very intimate type of waxing and is getting more and more popular to attain clean, smooth and soft skin.   Brazilian waxing refers to hair removal from the entire pubic region from front to back.  Most women prefer to take it all off, but some leave a small patch of hair above the vaginal area.   Many women request a Brazilian wax because it gives a neat, clean, close wax and the freedom to wear even the most revealing swimwear and lingerie.

What do I wear during Brazilian waxing?
You will be asked to remove all clothing from the waist down and a towel will be provided to drape over you until you are ready to be waxed.  Removing your underwear will ensure that you will get the maximum results.

How is Brazilian waxing done?
A combination of SOFT and HARD wax is used depending on the area.  For the soft wax, a thin layer of warm wax is applied and a strip is
placed over the area covered with wax and pulled off quickly and efficiently.  For the hard wax, a thicker layer of warm wax is applied on the area and after about 1 min., it will dry and then pulled off.  Any stray hairs are removed with tweezing.

How long is the procedure?
It takes approximately 20-30 minutes.  If it is your first time or you have not waxed in a long time, it may take a little longer depending on the hair growth.

Why is it better than other hair removal techniques?
  • As a temporary hair removal technique, it is certainly the best way to remove your hair leaving your skin feeling smooth and soft.
  • It is more effective than shaving because it removes hair from the roots, not just from the skin’s surface.
  • It has longer lasting results than shaving or creams.
  • It reduces ingrown hairs that can often occur from shaving.
  • The hair often grows back finer and sparser with regular waxing.

How often can I have a Brazilian wax?
The only thing about waxing is that you have to wait until your hair grows to a certain length (usually 1/4 inch).  It depends on the individual, but usually anywhere between 2-6 weeks.

Does Brazilian waxing hurt?
Yes, but only during the waxing procedure when the wax is pulled off, then the pain subsides right away.  How much it hurts depends on the individual.  Most people expect it to hurt more that it does and gradually it gets better if you are waxing regularly.  Most women say it's worth it!
